Scope
MAIN FUNCTIONS
Evaluate and comment on discipline engineering work performed both internally and by Contractors and sub-contractors to ensure work is executed in accordance with Company specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements. Facilitates effective execution of engineering and design routines aligned with team goals and procedures. Ensures accurate and timely communication across teams regarding engineering activities, progress, and issues. Requires strong technical ability along with communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
Role will support large capital budget execution focused on water infrastructure projects, including design, construction, and operational optimization of facilities systems.
LEVEL II – TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Act as Area Engineer supporting a specific plant area
• Work with Facilities Engineers, Site Contacts, and Lead Engineers to support operations and gain cross-area exposure
• Conduct monthly facilities surveillance driven by KPIs
• Provide operations support for changes, repairs, and alterations of plant pressure equipment (piping, static, rotating, tanks, etc.)
• Provide shutdown engineering support
• Execute project work and assist with troubleshooting operational challenges
LEVEL III – TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Participate in risk assessments, HAZOPs, hazard hunts, and critical operating parameter reviews
• Lead incident investigations (downtime and process safety related)
• Support opportunity management including scope development for projects
• Perform risk assessments on new and existing facilities and track mitigation actions
• Lead performance testing and plant trials
• Develop operating guidelines for facilities
• Coach and mentor junior engineers and peers
• Lead design and execution of water infrastructure and facility improvement projects
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, or related Engineering discipline (other engineering degrees considered with strong relevant experience)
• Extensive knowledge of design standards, specifications, codes, and safety criteria
• Strong ability to manage deadlines, workload, and shifting priorities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Strong technical and business communication skills
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS / PREFERENCES
• 8+ years of experience preferred
• Project execution and troubleshooting experience required
• Water treatment/facilities experience required (SWD systems, water recycling ponds, pits, booster stations, storage)
• Experience with pipeline hydraulics and pump design/installation
• Understanding of facility design components and proper equipment selection
• Experience supporting PSSRs and commissioning activities
• Experience designing measurement and flow systems for third-party integration preferred
• Familiarity with controls systems for managing water flow and operations
• Strong communication and project management skills
COMMENTS / ADDITIONAL DETAILS
• Local candidates only – Midland
• Two positions – one supporting Midland Basin and one supporting Delaware Basin (both based in Midland office)
• 50/50 office and field work expected
• Safety Sensitive (A&D classification)
