Primary Location: Spring Campus (Houston, TX)Travel: Required – travel to Williston, ND at least one week per month
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 40 hours per week
Pay Rate: $89/hr
Position Overview
The Project Engineer II supports capital and early-phase project execution by performing engineering evaluations, coordinating contractor activities, and ensuring scope delivery within budget and schedule constraints. This role provides technical and project coordination support to the Project Management Team (PMT) and serves as a key interface between engineering, construction, and contractors. The position operates under established guidelines with supervision and provides backup support to the Project Manager as required.Key Responsibilities
- Participate in Invitation to Tender (ITT) development, bid evaluations, and contractor selection
- Support identification and sourcing of long-lead equipment, ensuring FEED contractor alignment through equipment assignment
- Coordinate development of EMCAPS (ExxonMobil Capital Project Management System) Gate 3 deliverables
- Coordinate development and execution of the Functional Interaction Plan
- Support project issue resolution and change management processes
- Coordinate change requests and endorse change authorizations
- Ensure assigned work scope is completed in alignment with project objectives, specifications, and standards
- Engage project team members and functional resources to verify design and construction compliance
- Serve as the primary interface between the Project Team and Contractors
- Support smooth transitions between project phases
- Assist in leading the Project Management Team (PMT) in applying project management systems and best practices
Skills and Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- Experience across multiple assignments in engineering, construction, project management, and project controls
- Broad, multi-discipline engineering skill set
- Working knowledge of engineering design standards, specifications, and work processes
- Strong leadership, influencing, and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational, coordination, planning, and interface management skills
- Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and changing priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred
- Early project development experience within the oil & gas industry
- Prior experience supporting projects in upstream or unconventional operations
Additional Notes
- Houston-based role with recurring travel to Williston, ND
- Travel expected minimum one week per month
- No per diem specified; travel reimbursed per policy
