The position applies electrical engineering principles and techniques to support safe, efficient, and reliable project execution.
The primary focus of this position is utility-style electrical distribution, transmission, substations, primary power, and high-voltage systems. The role supports the development of electrical construction packages in the office and provides field support for project execution in Midland, TX.
Candidates may come from the power/utilities industry or Oil & Gas, provided they have direct distribution and transmission experience. Plant power or secondary electrical power experience alone will likely not be sufficient.
Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise a team of electrical engineers involved in the design, development, review, and testing of electrical components, equipment, machinery, and systems.
  • Provide technical direction and oversight for electrical engineering and design activities.
  • Generate electrical packages for construction.
  • Review electrical equipment, design, installation, and construction requirements.
  • Support electrical distribution, transmission-line, substation, primary-power, and high-voltage projects.
  • Review and develop fuse settings and remote transformer settings.
  • Coordinate with vendors and request technical information regarding how equipment should be constructed, installed, or assembled.
  • Evaluate and provide comments on electrical engineering work performed internally and by contractors and subcontractors.
  • Ensure engineering and design work complies with company specifications, company standards, applicable codes, safety criteria, and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate engineering and design routines that align with the team’s goals, objectives, and procedures.
  • Coordinate with other engineering teams and company functions to improve efficiency, production quality, and project execution.
  • Maintain accurate and timely communication concerning electrical engineering activities, progress, technical issues, and project risks.
  • Provide field support and evaluate construction needs in active project environments.
  • Apply appropriate engineering, construction, regulatory, and safety standards in both office and field settings.
  • Coordinate technical requirements among engineering teams, vendors, contractors, construction personnel, and field stakeholders.
Required Experience
  • Five to ten years of directly relevant experience preferred.
  • Direct experience with electrical distribution systems.
  • Transmission-line experience.
  • Substation experience.
  • Primary-power and high-voltage systems experience.
  • Experience reviewing or developing fuse settings.
  • Experience with remote transformer settings.
  • Experience developing or reviewing electrical construction packages.
  • Experience reviewing engineering and design work performed by contractors and subcontractors.
  • Broad knowledge of electrical design standards, specifications, codes, regulatory requirements, and appropriate safety criteria.
  • Understanding of electrical equipment and construction requirements.

  • Experience supervising or providing technical leadership to electrical engineers.
  • Field capable and willing to travel regularly to Midland, TX.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, a related engineering discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical distribution, transmission, substations, primary power, and high-voltage systems.
  • Ability to evaluate electrical engineering work for compliance with company specifications, standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical activities, progress, risks, and issues accurately and promptly.

Ideal Candidate
The strongest candidate will have hands-on experience supporting utility-style electrical distribution, transmission, substations, primary power, and high-voltage work, along with experience leading electrical engineers and reviewing contractor engineering deliverables.
The candidate should be equally comfortable developing construction packages at the Spring Campus, coordinating with vendors and contractors, evaluating engineering work against applicable standards, and traveling to Midland to support field execution.
