Scope
The Planning and Scheduling Lead III is responsible for project schedule development, control, progress measurement, forecasting, and change management. This position evaluates contractor- and company-generated schedules for logic, usefulness, level of detail, input sources, timing, communication interfaces, and alignment with the Current Control Estimate, Work Breakdown Structure, and Project Plan. The Lead establishes scheduling requirements and deliverable frequencies while identifying deviations, risks, and adverse trends in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership and expertise in project scheduling, progress measurement, forecasting, and change management.
  • Steward the contractor’s project controls organization regarding schedule development, schedule control, and progress measurement.
  • Evaluate the adequacy of project controls tools, reports, and schedules.
  • Develop and maintain integrated Level 1 and Level 2 project schedules.
  • Review and, when appropriate, endorse contractor-developed schedule and progress baselines and forecasts.
  • Advise the Project Controls Lead and Project Leadership Team of potential schedule issues.
  • Recommend corrective actions and mitigation measures for adverse schedule trends.
  • Develop and review schedule corrective-action and recovery plans.
  • Verify that approved corrective actions and recovery plans are implemented.
  • Evaluate project changes and quantify their impact on detailed and overall project schedules.
  • Monitor and report schedule implications resulting from project changes.
  • Review the schedule basis of contractor change proposals.
  • Review and endorse changes related to schedule and progress impacts.
  • Support project progress measurement, schedule analysis, reporting, and forecasting activities.
  • Ensure contractor scheduling practices and progress measurement systems comply with project coordination procedures.
  • Lead contractors in developing contract control schedules and milestones.
  • Ensure subcontractor schedules and progress measurement systems are properly integrated.
  • Monitor contractor performance against the approved baseline schedule.
  • Identify schedule issues and support the development and implementation of corrective actions or recovery plans.
  • Analyze project progress and schedule trends and develop forecasts that support management decision-making.
  • Participate in contract bid evaluations when schedule evaluation is required.
  • Ensure contractor schedules align with external requirements and interfaces, including permitting and regulatory activities.
  • Provide direction and feedback to owner and contractor schedule engineers regarding schedule development and control expectations.
  • Gather and document lessons learned related to project progress and scheduling.
  • Maintain regular communication and close coordination with functional and project organizations.
  • Promote capital efficiency across assigned projects.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management.
  • Must have previous ExxonMobil experience or Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) experience.
  • Advanced competency with Primavera P6 or an equivalent scheduling system.
  • Experience in project controls, project services, and/or planning and scheduling.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Strong schedule development, analysis, forecasting, progress measurement, and change-management capabilities.
  • Strong influencing, consulting, mentoring, analytical, and computer skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond quickly to urgent analysis requests.
