Position Overview

The Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer will provide technical leadership and engineering expertise supporting upstream unconventional oil & gas facilities. This role will be responsible for instrumentation & controls and electrical systems across design, construction, commissioning, and operational support, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) and Electrical engineering activities for upstream oil & gas facilities.
  • Provide technical oversight for I&E design engineering, construction, and commissioning efforts.
  • Support automation and control system design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC code requirements and ISA standards.
  • Interface with project management, construction, commissioning, and operations teams to ensure project alignment.
  • Support project execution through scope development, technical reviews, and issue resolution.
  • Participate in project planning, execution, and closeout activities.
  • Provide technical input and oversight for contractor engineering deliverables.
  • Support safe, reliable, and efficient facility operation through sound engineering practices.

Skills and Qualifications

Required

  • Engineering degree (Electrical, Instrumentation, or related discipline).
  • 10–15+ years of experience in Instrumentation & Controls and Electrical systems (low and medium voltage).
  • Extensive experience with I&E design engineering, construction, and commissioning.
  • Automation and control system experience.
  • Upstream unconventional oil & gas facilities experience.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC codes and ISA standards.
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Prior experience working in the Williston Basin or similar unconventional plays.

Additional Comments

  • Preference for local candidates within 70 miles of Williston, ND.
  • Will consider candidates willing to relocate to Williston.
