Location: Williston, NDSchedule: Monday–Friday | 40 hours per week
Pay Rate: $89.00/hour
Position Overview
The Project Engineer II supports capital and expense projects by performing engineering design evaluations and coordinating project execution activities to ensure delivery within budget, schedule, and company standards. This role provides technical support across engineering, construction, and project controls functions while serving as a key interface between internal project teams and contractors on Oil & Gas Facilities Projects.The position works under established procedures and guidance, with increasing responsibility for coordinating project deliverables and supporting the Project Manager as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Project Engineering & Execution
- Perform engineering design evaluations to support project scope execution
- Ensure project activities align with company standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements
- Support smooth transitions between project phases and execution milestones
- Serve as backup support to the Project Manager when required
Procurement & Contractor Coordination
- Participate in Invitation to Tender (ITT) development, bid evaluations, and contractor selection
- Support sourcing and tracking of long-lead equipment
- Coordinate with FEED contractors to ensure equipment readiness prior to contractor assignment
- Act as the primary interface between the Project Team and Contractors
Project Controls & Governance
- Coordinate development of EMCAPS (ExxonMobil Capital Project Management System) Gate 3 deliverables
- Support development of the Functional Interaction Plan
- Coordinate project issue resolution and change request processes
- Endorse change authorizations as required
- Lead the Project Management Team (PMT) in applying Project Management Systems and best practices
Technical & Cross-Functional Support
- Review reports related to production, maintenance, and malfunctions to identify and address technical issues
- Engage internal functional resources to verify design and construction alignment with project objectives
- Ensure assigned scope is completed in accordance with approved project objectives
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline (required)
Experience
- Experience across multiple assignments in engineering, construction, project management, and project controls in Facilities.
- Demonstrated multi-discipline exposure supporting capital projects
Technical & Professional Skills
- Broad knowledge of engineering design standards, specifications, and work processes
- Strong organizational, coordination, and planning capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
- Strong leadership, influencing, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
