Scope
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance preparation of wells, processing units, and related facilities. This role focuses heavily on oil, gas, and water separation operations as well as major utilities supporting production. The position supports large project operations including facility startup, work permitting, operating procedures, and operational readiness. Candidates with experience supporting new facility startups are highly desirable.
Responsibilities
• Maintain personal safety and ensure the safety of coworkers by following and enforcing all safety procedures
• Serve as the primary operations contact for assigned facilities
• Understand process flow, associated chemistry, system lineups, and all unit safety equipment including isolation points
• Review computer data and system schematics to monitor and optimize process performance
• Conduct routine physical inspections of equipment and work areas using sight, sound, smell, and touch to verify proper operation
• Issue Safe Work Permits and evaluate chemical, personnel, and process safety risks prior to maintenance activities
• Perform gas testing to ensure safe conditions for maintenance work
• Monitor production processes including tank gauging, meter readings, sample collection, differential pressure monitoring, and chemical injection rates
• Inspect for leaks, freezing, overheating, and other abnormal equipment conditions
• Perform visual maintenance checks on temperature, pressure, level, flow rate, and vibration to ensure equipment operates within defined limits
• Adjust local process parameters to maintain product quality and operational efficiency
• Maintain company vehicle in safe working condition
• Coordinate oil sales and saltwater hauling when necessary
• Maintain accurate gauge sheets and production records while documenting reasons for production changes
• Verify control valve positions and ensure valves are correctly configured
• Perform basic equipment maintenance including lubrication, filter replacement, tightening packing, and minor repairs
• Communicate regularly with the Production Foreman regarding current operating conditions and operational changes
• Perform equipment winterization and summerization for operational reliability
• Monitor field equipment using handheld monitoring devices and computer-based monitoring systems
• Inspect safety equipment including safety valves, fire extinguishers, fire hoses, and breathing apparatus
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within operations
• Follow environmental policies and procedures to minimize emissions, spills, and other environmental impacts
• Maintain strong attendance, work independently when required, and support team objectives
Skills & Qualifications
• College degree or trade school certificate required
• Previous experience in a closely related oil and gas operations role
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and teamwork
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• High level of personal initiative and commitment to improving operational performance
• Ability to work rotating shifts and respond to callouts when required
• Ability to operate effectively in a multicultural work environment
• Experience operating, maintaining, and repairing oil and gas surface equipment
• Strong computer skills with the ability to record and communicate operational information
• Physically capable of lifting more than 50 pounds and climbing ladders or stairways
• Ability to safely use a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and other safety equipment
