Position Overview
The Control Room Operator – Artificial Lift Technician supports the Upstream Remote Operations Center by providing continuous surveillance, troubleshooting, and optimization of artificial lift systems across ExxonMobil’s field assets.
This position plays a key role in identifying performance issues, maximizing uptime, ensuring equipment reliability, and driving production optimization from a remote operations environment. The role requires strong technical expertise in artificial lift systems, advanced surveillance skills, and the ability to collaborate closely with field operations, engineering teams, and technology groups.
Key Responsibilities
Surveillance & Optimization
• Conduct continuous, proactive surveillance of artificial lift systems (ESP, Rod Pump, Gas Lift, etc.)
• Identify operational anomalies and implement corrective measures to improve production
• Monitor key surveillance parameters and recognize early indicators of well performance issues
• Analyze well behavior and optimize artificial lift settings based on real-time performance
Troubleshooting & Failure Diagnostics
• Diagnose well failures using historical and real-time data
• Support troubleshooting workflows across the well lifecycle
• Maintain accurate downtime records and identify opportunities for faster restoration of production
• Provide post-workover performance analysis and follow-up
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with production operations, co-located engineering teams, and EM technology centers
• Communicate findings, opportunities, and artificial lift recommendations
• Participate in collaborative problem-solving discussions and optimization planning
Lifecycle Monitoring
• Monitor and manage workflows including:
– Failure identification
– Troubleshooting
– Workover planning
– Post-intervention analysis
• Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders
Qualifications & Skills
Required Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent
Required Experience:
• Minimum 6 years as an Artificial Lift Technician, Specialist, or Engineer
Technical Skills
• Proficiency with well surveillance tools including:
– XsPOC
– PumpChecker
– Ignition
– Spotfire
• Strong understanding of artificial lift methods and operational characteristics
• Ability to interpret well data, identify trends, and diagnose anomalies
• Knowledge of artificial lift optimization techniques
