Scope
The Inspection Coordinator provides work direction and support to third-party inspection contractors. This position serves as the primary communication link between Basin Integrity Leads and third-party inspection services and is responsible for distributing, directing, coordinating, and supervising field inspection activities across multiple sites.
Primary Responsibilities
- Promote safety throughout all inspection activities.
- Provide work direction and logistical support for field inspection work.
- Identify inspection needs and develop workforce plans with input from Basin Integrity Leads.
- Schedule, coordinate, and supervise field inspection activities.
- Ensure third-party contractor personnel comply with XTO safety policies and standards.
- Implement and steward the site inspection program according to the approved scope of work.
- Ensure approved procedures, NDE techniques, equipment, and properly qualified personnel are used.
- Review inspection reports for completeness and accuracy.
- Ensure inspection data, equipment histories, and records remain current in the CMMS.
- Identify inconsistencies between field practices and written documentation.
- Evaluate and provide feedback regarding contractor inspection personnel.
- Communicate inspection findings to Basin Integrity Leads.
- Coordinate third-party and contractor inspectors with suppliers, QA/QC personnel, Engineering, Construction, and other project disciplines.
- Perform surveillance and inspection activities according to Inspection and Test Plans and Project Surveillance Plans.
- Review contractor and supplier quality procedures and documentation for adequacy and accuracy.
- Support audits and assessments of contractor and supplier inspection activities.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests, final inspection releases, and punch-list closure.
- Provide early warning of potential quality problems and technical direction for resolving them.
- Support the development and review of inspection procedures, test methods, technical drawings, project plans, and examination techniques.
- Current API 653 – Aboveground Storage Tank Inspector certification.
- Six to ten years of oil and gas operations experience.
- At least three years of inspection coordination or integrity management experience.
- Strong knowledge of pressure-vessel, piping, and aboveground storage-tank inspection.
- Strong working knowledge of NDE methods, including UT, RT, MT, PT, and VT.
- Strong knowledge of API 653, API 510, and API 570 inspection standards.
- Thorough understanding of applicable ASME, API, and DOT requirements.
- Experience coordinating field inspection activities across multiple locations.
- Experience supervising contractors and third-party inspection personnel.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, inspection procedures, and ITPs.
- Project coordination and scheduling experience.
- Familiarity with CMMS platforms such as SAP, FSM, Oracle, or Meridium.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook.
- Strong technical reporting, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex technical issues to nontechnical stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize multiple activities in a fast-paced field environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel to project sites.
- API 510 – Pressure Vessel Inspector certification.
- API 570 – Piping Inspector certification.
- NDE Level II or III certification in UT, MT, PT, or RT.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, materials science, engineering, science, or another related technical discipline.
- Manufacturing, fabrication, construction, procurement quality, or project QA/QC experience.
Additional Details
- API 653 is a hard requirement. Candidates without a current API 653 certification will not be submitted.
- Reimbursable business travel is provided for travel to Carlsbad and outlying DelTex areas.
- Agency-supplied ½-ton 4WD truck, such as an F-150.
- No per diem.
- Safety-sensitive position.
- Interview: 30-minute Zoom meet-and-greet with the Midland Hwy 80 team.
