Position Overview
The Instrument and Electrical Technician II is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and instrumentation equipment used in production operations. This role ensures equipment integrity, operational reliability, and compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
Technicians will support operations, engineering, and project teams while upholding strict standards in safety, documentation, work permitting, and equipment quality. This position is critical to ensuring system uptime and aligning maintenance activities with the Work Management System and Operations Integrity Management System (OIMS).
 

Key Responsibilities
Operations, Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Install, test, and repair electrical and instrumentation systems used in production equipment.
  • Evaluate electrical systems and instruments to develop repair plans and ensure reliable performance.
  • Troubleshoot issues on control systems, automation equipment, and facility electrical components.
  • Inspect new installations for compliance with specifications, codes, and operational requirements.
Work Management & Documentation
  • Apply and follow Work Permits through the Permit to Work System (PTWS).
  • Ensure completion and quality of scheduled work according to the Maintenance Program.
  • Generate and follow up on Management of Change (MOC) requests related to electrical and control systems.
  • Document all repairs, inspections, findings, and corrective actions accurately.
Collaboration & Communication
  • Communicate proactively with operations, engineering, and project groups to support shared goals.
  • Provide technical support to other technicians on instrumentation and electrical systems.
  • Maintain open communication regarding safe work practices, equipment issues, materials, and technical updates.
Leadership & Development
  • Attend—and when needed, instruct—technical meetings to communicate best practices and new specifications.
  • Support teamwork across various disciplines to maximize maintenance efficiency and operational reliability.
  • Act as a stand-in for the Instrument & Electrical Lead when necessary

Skills & Qualifications
Required
  • Texas Journeyman Electrician License
  • Associate’s degree or technical school coursework in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, or similar
  • Experience maintaining electrical systems and instrumentation in processing or production environments (oil & gas strongly preferred)
  • Strong computing skills and familiarity with digital maintenance tools
  • Working knowledge of OIMS systems, manuals, and procedures
Technical Competencies

  • Ability to meet all safety, administrative, and technical training requirements as defined in the approved training roadmap
