Scope
As a Midstream Operator III, you will take a leadership role in midstream operations, working under limited supervision to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and safety across compressor station assets. This position is responsible for leading compressor station operations, optimizing equipment performance, coordinating maintenance activities, analyzing operational data, and serving as a key field resource for operational and emergency response activities.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong compressor station operations experience, advanced troubleshooting capabilities, leadership skills, and a commitment to safe, reliable operations throughout New Mexico and West Texas assets.
Main Functions
  • Lead compressor station operations and maintenance activities with limited supervision.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize compressor stations and associated equipment.
  • Analyze SCADA data and field observations to improve equipment reliability and run time.
  • Coordinate minor maintenance activities and repairs.
  • Serve as a field-wide operational resource during normal and emergency conditions.
  • Train and mentor less experienced operators while promoting knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Maintain detailed operational documentation and regulatory compliance records.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all assigned facilities.
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Lead complex compressor station operations and maintenance activities.
  • Oversee operation, troubleshooting, optimization, and maintenance of compressors, pumps, engines, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Utilize predictive maintenance tools and operational data to reduce unscheduled downtime.
  • Conduct and oversee periodic visual inspections of compressor station assets.
  • Ensure accurate GIS mapping and asset documentation.
  • Drive compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and DOT standards.
  • Coordinate emergency response activities and operational recovery efforts.
  • Perform real-time surveillance and operational checks of compressor station systems.
  • Maintain thorough operational records and documentation.
  • Manage corrective maintenance tasks and monitor completion status.
  • Coordinate and oversee vendor activities and material deliveries.
  • Collaborate with Chemical Technicians and Engineering personnel on equipment protection, reliability, and upgrade initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary field contact for compressor station operations and maintenance issues.
  • Participate in the SAFE Program and exercise Stop Work Authority when unsafe conditions exist.
Qualifications
Required
  • Strong compressor station operations experience.
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting compressors, pumps, engines, and associated midstream equipment.
  • Experience utilizing SCADA systems for operational monitoring and surveillance.
  • Knowledge of predictive and preventative maintenance practices.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements and DOT standards.
  • Experience performing operational reporting and documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout assigned operating areas.
  • Ability to provide and utilize a personal vehicle for business purposes.
Preferred
  • GIS mapping experience.
  • Experience coordinating contractors and vendors.
  • Previous leadership, mentoring, or training experience.
  • Experience working directly with engineering and chemical programs to improve equipment reliability and asset integrity.

  • Day-shift position supporting assets in New Mexico and West Texas.
  • Service area includes Carlsbad, Pecos, and Wink.
  • Personal vehicle required; position is not eligible for fleet vehicle charges.
  • $50/day vehicle allowance provided for days worked.
  • Candidate must provide their own 4-gas monitor.
  • Candidate must provide proof of successful completion of Rig Pass and SafeLand training.
