Scope
Main Functions
The Level 2 Compressor Station Operator is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of natural gas compression equipment, specifically supporting Vapor Recovery Unit (VRU) operations. This role monitors, troubleshoots, and maintains compressor station systems to ensure maximum uptime, operational reliability, and safe facility performance.

Key Responsibilities
Operations & Monitoring
  • Operate and monitor natural gas compressors, dehydration units, and associated equipment.
  • Adjust operating parameters to maintain optimal pressure, flow, and system efficiency.
  • Conduct routine inspections and record equipment readings to detect irregularities or performance issues.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Perform minor maintenance and assist with repairs on compressors, engines, and auxiliary systems.
  • Identify mechanical or process issues and escalate as necessary to maintenance personnel.
  • Assist with troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic control systems.
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with operational and environmental standards.
Daily Reporting
  • Maintain accurate logs of operating data, maintenance activities, and safety checks.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or operational deviations.
  • Utilize digital tools and reporting systems for operational data entry and reporting.

Qualifications
Experience
  • 2–5 years of experience in gas compression, oil & gas operations, or industrial maintenance.
  • Familiarity with rotating equipment, instrumentation, and process controls.
Education & Certifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (technical or vocational training preferred).
  • Certifications such as OSHA 10/30, H2S Awareness, First Aid/CPR, or DOT Operator Qualification (OQ) are a plus.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read P&IDs, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Knowledge of HMI systems and control room operations is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • 14/14 rotating shift schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and remote field environments.
  • Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
