Scope / Overview
The Technical Trainer III is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering technical training programs that support the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of ExxonMobil Production and Midstream assets. This position serves as a key liaison between Operations, Competency & Training Advisors, subject matter experts (SMEs), and governance councils to ensure employees receive and maintain required SCORR (Safety, Compliance, Operational, Regulatory and Required) training.
The successful candidate will maintain training compliance, facilitate instructor-led learning, support competency development, and ensure first-line supervisors and operations personnel meet corporate training requirements. This role requires extensive travel throughout the Tilden operating area and will support approximately 24 frontline supervisors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver technical training programs for Operations personnel.
  • Maintain and administer SCORR training requirements for Production and Midstream organizations.
  • Ensure compliance with ExxonMobil Global Operations Training System (GOTS) requirements.
  • Partner with Competency & Training Advisors and Operations SMEs to develop and improve technical training materials.
  • Deliver classroom and field-based instruction to operations personnel and supervisors.
  • Maintain training records and competency documentation within WebCat.
  • Coordinate and track required training for approximately 24 frontline supervisors.
  • Participate in Train-the-Trainer certification and ongoing instructor development.
  • Support competency assessments and employee skills development initiatives.
  • Assist with instructional system design (ISD) and continuous improvement of training content.
  • Support Learning Management Systems, reporting, metrics, and database functionality.
  • Prepare presentations and technical training materials using Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint.
  • Travel regularly throughout the Tilden operating area to conduct field training.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of Oil & Gas industry experience
  • Strong operational knowledge of upstream Production and/or Midstream operations
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Comfortable instructing groups of employees in classroom and field environments
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel throughout the Tilden operating area
  • Willingness to complete Train-the-Trainer certification
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous technical training or instructor experience
  • Experience developing training materials or competency programs
  • Knowledge of Global Operations Training Systems (GOTS)
  • Experience administering or maintaining training within WebCat or similar Learning Management Systems
  • Familiarity with SCORR training requirements
  • Experience supporting competency development and learning management systems
  • Knowledge of instructional design (ISD)
  • Experience working with Production, Manufacturing, or Midstream operations

Hiring Manager Notes
  • Training experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong Operations experience is more important than being a career trainer.
  • Candidate should be comfortable teaching and presenting to groups.
  • Will be responsible for delivering and maintaining all ExxonMobil operations training within the Tilden area.
  • Most work involves traveling throughout the local operating area.
  • Local or regional candidates are strongly preferred (Pleasanton, Tilden, Jourdanton, Three Rivers, Karnes City, George West, Cotulla, Pearsall, and surrounding South Texas communities). Candidates within a couple hundred miles will be considered.
  • Candidate must be willing to attend and complete ExxonMobil's Train-the-Trainer program.
