Scope / Overview
The Technical Trainer III is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering technical training programs that support the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of ExxonMobil Production, Manufacturing, and Midstream assets. This position serves as a key liaison between Operations, Competency & Training Advisors, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Training Supervisors, and governance councils to ensure employees receive and maintain required SCORR (Safety, Compliance, Operational, Regulatory and Required) training.
The successful candidate will maintain training compliance, facilitate classroom and field instruction, support competency development, and ensure first-line supervisors and operations personnel meet ExxonMobil training requirements. This role requires frequent travel throughout the Tilden operating area and will support approximately 24 frontline supervisors.

The Technical Trainer III is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering technical training programs that support the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of ExxonMobil Production, Manufacturing, and Midstream assets. This role requires frequent travel throughout the Tilden operating area and will support approximately 24 frontline supervisors.
- Develop and deliver technical training programs supporting Production, Manufacturing, and Midstream operations.
- Maintain SCORR training compliance for Operations personnel.
- Work directly with Training Supervisors, SMEs, and Operations leadership to develop competency-based training.
- Apply Global Operations Training System (GOTS) requirements to establish, certify, and maintain employee training compliance.
- Deliver classroom and field-based instruction to operators, technicians, and supervisors.
- Maintain training records and competency documentation within WebCat and associated learning management systems.
- Coordinate training plans and learning roadmaps that align with governance council expectations and operational best practices.
- Participate in Train-the-Trainer certification and ongoing instructor development.
- Support competency assessments and employee development initiatives.
- Assist with instructional system design (ISD), curriculum improvements, and learning management system optimization.
- Generate training reports, key performance metrics, and compliance documentation.
- Prepare presentations and technical training materials using Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint.
- Travel throughout the South Texas operating area to conduct classroom and field instruction.
In addition to Level I and II responsibilities:
- Demonstrate leadership while working with line management and governing councils (PLC, MLC, TLC, SSHELC, etc.).
- Ensure Operations training plans comply with ExxonMobil Global Operations Training requirements.
- Partner with Competency & Training Advisors to define final training product requirements.
- Support learning management systems including GOTS, GMT, database functionality, reporting, metrics, and issue resolution.
- Help improve competency management processes and global training initiatives.
- Minimum 10 years of Oil & Gas operations experience
- Strong knowledge of Production, Manufacturing, or Midstream operations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable presenting to groups and conducting classroom instruction
- Strong leadership and coaching abilities
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint)
- Ability to travel throughout the Tilden operating area
- Valid driver's license
- Willingness to complete ExxonMobil Train-the-Trainer certification
- Experience training, coaching, mentoring, or developing Oil & Gas personnel
- Production or Midstream operator experience strongly preferred
- Experience with ExxonMobil or another major operator
- Knowledge of SCORR training requirements
- Experience with PSMS and SSHE management systems
- Familiarity with WebCat, GOTS, GMT, or other Learning Management Systems

- Looking for an experienced operations professional who can effectively teach operators and frontline supervisors.
- Formal training experience is preferred but not required.
- Candidate must have the credibility to stand in front of experienced Operations personnel and deliver technical instruction.
- Will be responsible for maintaining and delivering all ExxonMobil technical training within the Tilden operating area.
- Supports approximately 24 first-line supervisors.
- Most work involves traveling throughout South Texas.
- Candidates local to or within reasonable driving distance of Tilden, Pleasanton, Jourdanton, Three Rivers, Karnes City, George West, Cotulla, Pearsall, or surrounding areas are preferred.
- Candidate must be willing to complete Train-the-Trainer certification.
- No per diem. Candidate may choose between an agency-supplied truck or a personal vehicle allowance.
