Scope
The Lease Operator III is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance preparation of wells, processing units, and related facilities. The role requires strong oil, gas, and water separation-facility experience, along with knowledge of major utilities and surface production equipment. Experience with new-facility startup, operating procedures, work permitting, and operator training is highly desirable.

Scope
The Lease Operator III is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance preparation of wells, processing units, and related facilities. The role requires strong oil, gas, and water separation-facility experience, along with knowledge of major utilities and surface production equipment. Experience with new-facility startup, operating procedures, work permitting, and operator training is highly desirable.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Maintain personal safety and the safety of coworkers by following and enforcing all safety requirements.
- Serve as the primary operations contact for assigned facilities.
- Understand process flow, basic process chemistry, major lineups, isolation points, and unit safety equipment.
- Review computer data and system-generated schematics to optimize production processes.
- Physically inspect and monitor equipment and work areas to verify proper operation.
- Issue Safe Work Permits based on current operating conditions and associated chemical, personnel, and process-safety risks.
- Perform atmospheric gas testing before maintenance activities.
- Gauge tanks, read meters, collect product samples, and accurately record production data.
- Monitor differential pressures, chemical-injection rates, leaks, freezing, overheating, and other operating conditions.
- Conduct visual maintenance by monitoring temperature, pressure, level, flow, and vibration.
- Adjust local process parameters to maintain production specifications and optimal operating conditions.
- Maintain the company vehicle in good working condition.
- Coordinate oil sales and saltwater hauling as required.
- Maintain accurate electronic or paper gauge sheets and document reasons for production changes.
- Verify that control valves are positioned correctly.
- Perform basic equipment maintenance, including adding lubricants and water, tightening valve packing, changing filters and steam traps, and clearing equipment.
- Communicate operating conditions and required changes to the Production Foreman.
- Perform equipment winterization and summerization to maximize efficiency.
- Monitor field equipment using handheld electronic devices and computer-based monitoring systems.
- Inspect safety valves, fire extinguishers, fire hoses, breathing apparatuses, and other safety equipment.
- Participate in continuous-improvement activities.
- Follow environmental policies and minimize flaring, emissions, spills, and other environmental impacts.
- Maintain current job knowledge and continuously improve operational skills.
- Work independently when appropriate while supporting team objectives.
- Maintain reliable attendance and respond to callouts as operational conditions require.
- College degree or trade-school certificate required.
- Previous experience in a closely related oil and gas production position.
- Strong experience operating, maintaining, and repairing surface equipment associated with oil and gas production.
- Oil, gas, and water separation-facility experience.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of initiative and commitment to improving business results.
- Willing and able to work a rotating schedule.
- Available for callouts as operational conditions require.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Physically able to lift more than 50 pounds and climb ladders and stairways.
- Able to use a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus, safety detectors, and related protective equipment.
