Job Title: Pipeline Operator II or III
Location: Williston, ND
Schedule: 8 Days on / 6 Days off
Position Overview
The Pipeline Operator is responsible for the safe daily operation and inspection of pipeline gathering systems in Williston, ND. This role conducts routine rounds, performs pigging activities, manages permits, monitors via SCADA, and ensures pipeline integrity across assigned areas. The operator will work closely with visitors, contractors, and internal teams to maintain strong safety standards and reliable system performance.
This role requires a safety-first mindset, strong communication skills, and the physical capability to work in extreme outdoor conditions.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform daily operations and inspections on pipeline gathering systems including daily rounds, weekly/monthly/yearly inspections
• Submit maintenance tickets and follow up until completion
• Conduct and lead pre-task briefings ensuring hazards and mitigations are clearly identified
• Engage in and promote a strong safety culture
• Conduct regular pipeline pigging, valve maintenance, and right-of-way monitoring
• Monitor operations using Ignition and SCADA systems
• Execute Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures on pressure vessels and pipelines
• Write and document various permits associated with daily activities
• Fulfill area operator responsibilities on all permits within assigned area (delegation as needed)
• Read and work from P&IDs related to pipelines and pigging facilities
• Communicate effectively with site visitors and ensure expectations are clearly communicated and adhered to
• Work flexible hours and participate in on-call rotation as required
• Perform line locating, including oversight of 3rd party activities during crossings or ground disturbance within ROWs
• Support and understand cathodic protection systems
Skills & Qualifications
• Working knowledge of pipeline systems, pigging operations, and valve maintenance
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs
• Experience with Ignition, SCADA, and pipeline monitoring systems
• Knowledge of Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures
• Experience with underground utility locating and ROW management
• Understanding of cathodic protection systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in extreme outdoor conditions
• Ability to work flexible hours and on-call rotation
