Job Title: Maintenance Technician IV
Location: Alpine, Alaska
Schedule: 14 days on / 14 days off (rotational)
Work Environment: Remote Arctic facilities and drill sites; self-contained camps
Position Overview
The Maintenance Technician IV / Production Operator supports production operations at Alpine and Kuparuk Facilities and Drillsites. This role is responsible for safe, efficient operation of production processes, pipelines, utilities, and safety systems in a remote Arctic environment.
The position requires strong operational discipline, hands-on troubleshooting skills, and the ability to respond to abnormal conditions while maintaining strict compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
• Participate in safety programs, toolboxes, and emergency response drills
• Exercise Stop-Work Authority when conditions are unsafe or outside approved protocols
• Comply with all SOPs, regulatory requirements, and environmental standards
• Maintain operating integrity through Safe Operating Limits, MOC, and Control of Work processes
Operations & Surveillance
• Operate and support production processes, pipelines, utilities, and safety systems
• Conduct routine operator rounds and area surveillance to proactively identify issues
• Respond to process upsets, alarms, and abnormal operating conditions
• Perform facility and equipment start-ups and shutdowns for planned and unplanned events
Maintenance & Work Preparation
• Prepare equipment for maintenance including energy isolation and lockout/tagout
• Coordinate with maintenance teams to safely return equipment to service
• Ensure equipment readiness and reliability through proactive troubleshooting
Production Optimization
• Achieve production targets through continuous monitoring and optimization
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and uptime
• Support both facility and drill site operations as assigned
Training & Competency
• Complete all required training and competency requirements
• Maintain qualifications necessary to safely operate assigned facilities and equipment
Preferred Technical Qualifications
• 3+ years of direct oilfield or petrochemical operations experience
• Associate degree or higher in Process Technology or a related technical discipline
• Intermediate knowledge of Production Operations and Process Safety Management (PSM)
• 1+ year experience in one or more of the following:
– Field Production Operator (wells and remote gathering systems)
– Field Production Operator (processing facility operations)
