Scope
Mechanical Technician I or II position that assists in the maintenance of one or more compressors, with responsibility for the compressor packages and equipment. Provides feedback regarding the operation of compressor packages. Supports the planning and organization of preventive maintenance and other maintenance activities.
The technician must have at least entry-level diagnostic and repair skills and may assist mechanics at other field locations.
Requirements
  • Caterpillar engine experience is required.
  • Waukesha engine experience is highly preferred.
  • Ariel compressor experience is highly preferred.
  • ExxonMobil is seeking candidates with fewer than 10 years of experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • OEM training, trade school or comparable work experience in a related field or industry is preferred.
  • At least one year of compression process, production and equipment-related experience and/or training.
  • Some knowledge of gas processes and motor-driven compressors.
  • Electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic knowledge of compressor packages, components and systems.
  • Working knowledge of applicable safety procedures and regulations.
  • Mechanical aptitude and analytical, planning and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate teamwork, self-motivation, self-control and initiative.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Valid driver’s license with a Motor Vehicle Record within the acceptable parameters of company policy.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment, including cranes and manlifts.
  • Ability to stand for up to 75% of the workday and sit for up to 25%.
  • Ability to climb ladders or stairs while inspecting or repairing equipment and maintain balance without assistance.
  • Ability to communicate and respond to contractors, ExxonMobil personnel and emergency cues or alarms, both in person and by telephone or mobile device.
  • Ability to frequently lift at least 10 pounds and occasionally lift more than 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in high-noise environments exceeding 85 dBA while wearing hearing protection.
  • Ability to work with controlled exposure to hazardous chemicals, including cleaning solvents.
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat and extreme cold.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl while completing tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
  • Ability to wear all required PPE, including fire-resistant clothing, hard hats, face shields, hearing protection, safety glasses and steel-toed boots.
  • Ability to frequently type and use computers and other office equipment.

  • Agency vehicle provided.
  • Tools provided by the business line.
Interview
