Scope / Overview
The Field Operator III is responsible for safely operating and monitoring production wells, facilities, and associated equipment while ensuring reliable production, environmental compliance, and operational excellence. This role performs daily surveillance of wells and equipment, identifies operational issues, supports maintenance activities, and coordinates with operations, maintenance, and wellwork teams to maximize equipment reliability and production performance.
Manager Note: This position will support Chemical Operations for the North Area, making experience with production chemicals, water treatment, injection systems, and chemical optimization highly desirable in addition to traditional field operations experience.

The Field Operator III is responsible for safely operating and monitoring production wells, facilities, and associated equipment while ensuring reliable production, environmental compliance, and operational excellence. This role performs daily surveillance of wells and equipment, identifies operational issues, supports maintenance activities, and coordinates with operations, maintenance, and wellwork teams to maximize equipment reliability and production performance.

- Safely operate production wells, facilities, and associated equipment in accordance with company operating procedures.
- Execute daily work activities while maintaining high standards for housekeeping, safety, health, environmental compliance, and security.
- Participate in daily toolbox meetings, safety meetings, and emergency response activities.
- Continuously monitor wells and production equipment to identify optimization opportunities and corrective actions.
- Perform routine Equipment Care Technician responsibilities, including basic mechanical maintenance and inspections.
- Coordinate corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance activities with maintenance personnel.
- Report alarms, equipment failures, emergency shutdown issues, and abnormal operating conditions promptly.
- Maintain detailed and accurate operational logs and shift turnover documentation.
- Collect production and process samples for laboratory analysis and perform routine field testing.
- Report incidents in accordance with company Incident Reporting Guidelines.
- Maintain effective communication with Operations Shift Supervisors regarding operational status and production issues.
- Diagnose well performance problems before requesting Wellwork intervention.
- Ensure wellheads and surface equipment are prepared for intervention activities.
- Support Wellwork operations during intervention activities as required.
- Maintain compliance with all operational, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Field Technician or Field Operator.
- Strong understanding of upstream oil & gas production operations.
- Experience operating production facilities, wells, separators, tanks, and associated equipment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
- Working knowledge of maintenance coordination and equipment reliability.
- Familiarity with emergency response procedures.
- Knowledge of applicable industry regulations and operating procedures.
- Chemical operations or production chemical experience.
- Experience with water treatment systems and chemical injection equipment.
- Pipeline operations experience.
- Experience troubleshooting production equipment and optimizing production performance.
- Experience supporting well intervention and workover operations.
- Operator experience with ExxonMobil or another major upstream producer preferred.
- Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and electronic operations logs.
