Position Overview

This role acts as a technical expert in automation software and hardware, delivering projects, supporting operations, and ensuring data quality across business units. The position requires strong field experience, the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, and a proven background in automation and control systems.
- Support device integration into automation applications (software/hardware)
- Provide ongoing support to automation host systems (data analysis, database updates, uptime assurance)
- Perform device setup, troubleshoot alarms and hardware failures, and provide daily technical support
- Maintain local historical data and support data quality initiatives
- Define and implement automation solutions with operations and facilities engineering
- Lead and deliver automation projects and pilot programs, including development of automation guidelines
- Contribute to business value assessments and continuous improvement opportunities
- Collaborate with automation teams to identify strategic automation initiatives and provide DSC support
- Mentor colleagues and demonstrate leadership in managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Automation Engineering (or equivalent work experience) required
- 3+ years relevant experience in E&P operations with automation specialization
- Preferred certifications:
- Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST)
- Industrial Electrician (Red Seal Endorsement)
- Instrumentation & Control Technician (Red Seal Endorsement)
- Strong communication skills (oral & written) with results-oriented mindset
- Proficiency in:
- PLC Programming (IDEC/SCADA Pack, Rockwell/AB PLC)
- DCS Systems (ABB 800Xa/ROC)
- HMI Development (Beijer, Redlion, Allen-Bradley, IDEC)
- Field Device Integration
- ISA and IEC Standards
- Hands-on experience with equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, automation system design, and regulatory compliance
- Field and office work required; flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
- Strong digital literacy, technical documentation, and data quality skills are expected
